Radja

Today we said goodbye to our dear friend and faithful companion, Radja.

After more than seven years, the old girl had started to succumb to arthritis.

This past week she had been boarding while we were on vacation at the beach. When we picked her up this morning she had started to bloat. By the time we got her to the vet she was in shock. The only option was to do emergency surgery...which was risky due to her age and being so sick, and her recovery would have been extremely painful for her. There was no guarantee that she would have recovered or that she would not have bloated again. My biggest fear was that she would bloat in the middle of the night and die alone.

I got to be with her to say goodbye and tell her how much I loved her and would miss her. I know I made the right decision...but it was still one of the hardest decision's I've ever had to make. David was with me, and I am so thankful for his support.
